DMZ Docs Pitch
¡®DMZ Docs Pitch¡¯ Programs consist of Production Pitch and Rough Cut Pitch. Production Pitch is for projects in the production stage while Rough Cut Pitch is for projects in the editing stage with an expected premiere the following year. Production Pitch participants will participate in a training session with distinguished tutors at the DMZ Docs Lab, and Rough Cut Pitch participants will receive in-person one-to-one consultation on their rough cut from an esteemed editor during the DMZ Docs Industry.
* The DMZ Docs Industry 2024 event will take place during the 16th DMZ International Documentary Film Festival (September 26 - October 2, 2024)

* The number of selected projects or amount of cash grants is subject to change.

B. Eligibility
Production Pitch
  • Documentary projects within 30-70% of stage production
Rough Cut Pitch
  • Documentary projects in editing stage
  • (As of Sep. 2024) Projects that have never been released or broadcast
Both Production & Rough Cut Pitch
  • Feature-length (over 60 min.) documentary projects
  • Documentary projects created by director/producers of Korean or Asian nationality
  • The copyright must be held by the creator or applicant as an original work of art intended for screening on multiple platforms, including its theatrical release
  • Projects with original work, if any, for which rights have been secured
  • In case the project is funded by other festival/organizations, be sure to indicate whether the other festival/organization has the first look deal option
  • Feature-length (above 60 min.) documentary projects
  • Documentary projects created by director/producers of Korean or Asian nationality
  • The copyright must be held by the creator or applicant as an original work of art intended for screening on multiple platforms, including theatrical release.
  • Projects with original work, if any, for which rights have been secured.
  • In case the project is funded by other festival/organizations, be sure to indicate whether the other festival/organization has the first look option.

* Projects that are scheduled to pitch at another venue between July 1 and Sep. 14 are not eligible.
Please inform us right away if your project is selected at other venues such as EIDF, Dhaka Lab, Docs by the Sea, etc., after submitting us your application.

B. Submission Process

¨ç Visit the DMZ Docs Industry website (https://industry.dmzdocs.com/eng/)
¨è Click ¡°Submission¡± then Click ¡°Submit My Project¡± at the bottom of the web
¨é Fill out the online application with requested materials and submit it
¨ê Successful applicants will receive an (automatic) confirmation email

¨ç Online application form
¨è Project Proposal (Free form): No more than 6 pages, PDF format
¨é Budget Breakdown (Specified form): EXCEL format
¨ê Video Materials (*If the original language is not English, it must include English subtitles)
- Production Pitch: a teaser/trailer (streaming link)
- Rough Cut Pitch: a clip of selected scenes (40 minutes or less)

¨è Submitted documents will not be returned and cannot be replaced after submission
¨é Projects that are not eligible to apply or incomplete applications that cannot be properly reviewed, may be excluded from consideration without any notice
¨ê All notifications will be sent to the applicant's email. Please provide a valid email address

3. Selection Process
A. A selection committee organized by the DMZ International Documentary Film Festival will hold a meeting and select the projects
B. Selection Announcement
  • Individual notice to the applicants and announcement through DMZ Docs Industry website in July (exact dates TBA)
4. Obligation of the Recipient

A. Selected projects should attend the DMZ Docs Industry main event (for both Production and Rough Cut Pitch)
B. DMZ Docs and DMZ Docs Industry logo placement, acknowledgement as DMZ Docs Industry official project, and insertion of opening/end credits provided by DMZ Docs in the completed film (including logos and acknowledgement in official publications)
C. Progress or accomplishment report upon request (e.g. film festival screenings, awards, domestic/international release, etc.)
